Kildee Introduces Congressional Resolution Honoring Heroes of Flint Bishop Airport Attack
Resolution Condemns Attack on Police Officer and Commends First Responders For Their Work
WASHINGTON – Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) has introduced a congressional resolution condemning the violent attack at Flint Bishop International Airport, which injured Flint Township police officer Lieutenant Jeff Neville. The resolution also thanks the airport employees and first responders who worked to subdue the attacker and prevent further harm to other people. The full resolution can be viewed here.
“Like many in our community, I was horrified by the violent attack at Bishop Airport. I have known Lieutenant Neville for years and he is a true public servant in our community. Lieutenant Neville, Chief Chris Miller and Richard Cruell showed true acts of courage to subdue the attacker and prevent him from harming anyone else,” said Congressman Kildee. “This congressional resolution is a small act of gratitude to everyone at the airport who keeps our community safe and reaffirms Congress’ commitment to combat all forms of violence against our law enforcement.”
On the morning of June 21, 2017, a man stabbed Lt. Neville in the neck while he was on duty at Flint Bishop International Airport. Richard Cruell, an airport maintenance worker, stepped in and subdued the attacker. Chief Chris Miller of the Bishop Airport Safety Division was then able to handcuff the individual and prevent him from harming other people. Lt. Neville was hospitalized after the attack, but has returned to full health.
