The Detroit Historical Museum will reopen to the public on Friday, November 23, after six months’ worth of renovations. The revamp includes expanded exhibits and technology upgrades.

The half-year project marked the museum’s first major refurbishment since the 1960s.

A new  interactive music lab exhibit allows guests to feel what it’s like to be on stage with artists such as Kid Rock. They also can mix their own music and test their Detroit music knowledge. There’s also a new outdoor Legends Plaza.  It  features hand prints from a number of Detroit’s biggest names, including Barry Sanders, Al Kaline and Elmore Leonard.

To celebrate, you can visit the museum free of charge beginning Friday, November 23 at 9:30 a.m. and the doors won’t close until Sunday, November 25 at 5 p.m. Plus there will be activities going on all weekend included Detroit themed movies, music and more.

So, no need to hear the words, “I’m Bored” this weekend!
