The church has to use delicate balance when deciding someone does, or does not belong in the sanctuary. There are so many spiritually sick people who need the church… but what if they’re being disruptive? Perhaps this isn’t quite what the Word means by making a “Joyful Noise.”
According to EnidNews.com, an off-duty deputy had to remove an over aggressive tambourine player from church services last week after asking her to stop being disruptive.
The church, located in Edmond, Oaklahoma, asked the off-duty officer to remove the woman because no one could pay attention to the sermon or anything for that matter.
After she ignored church staff to quiet down or leave, an Edmond sheriff’s office spokesman said she was escorted out of the church. Once outside, she attempted to re-enter and became combative. The spokesman said she was instructed to get down on the ground and when she refused, she was pepper sprayed and eventually tased.
Officer Mark Myers said, “She was not filled with the Holy spirit. She was not being very Christianly and this is why the folks decided to get her out as soon as possible.”
Meyers said the woman did have prescription medication on her and was arrested for trespassing, resisting a police officer, possession and public intoxication. She was booked at the county jail and bond was set at $4,000
