I love watching award shows while following and posting comments on Twitter and Facebook. Here’s my take on the BET Awards last night: Loved the Gospel portion and I rolled when someone tweeted, “now that the gospel is over, let the cussing begin.” And, man oh man… he was tweeting the truth! I don’t think the person(s) working the censor switch had it together last night.
Congratulations to our very own Yolanda Adams for winning the Best Gospel Award last night (Even though I thought there should have been more categories - Choir, Male, Rap etc.).
Loved the Tribute to Whitney Houston. Cissy Houston had me in tears!
Loved the award given to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly… long overdue; and even the D’Angelo set. If you follow me on twitter (@randimyles2go) you’ll see my Confessions of a Gospel DJ tweet about him.
But, once again, Nicki Minaj proved why she needs Jesus! I’m not even talking about her performance (which I didn’t watch because… well, because), but by her acceptance speech. She looked like she was reciting from an ear piece but clearly went off script at the end and the censors missed her outburst… SMH.
